The session dates for 2008 are free. You can choose your favorite dates between July 1st and September 15th 2008. The minimum length of stay is two weeks. You can save up from your fee applying only for the archaeological digs without excursions (see our price list).

The Field School training takes place for two five-day weeks. A field trips will be organized between them. Transport is ensured to and from Sofia at the beginning and end of each session. The mornings will be devoted to fieldwork and during the afternoons the participants will attend the theoretical and practical lessons (attending the pottery sampling session and briefing regarding the day's activities, documentation workshop etc.). The breakfast (including the Weekend) is at 7.30 at the hotel. The work at the site begins at 8.30am and finishes at 1.30pm. The lunch is at the hotel at 2 o'clock. The classes will take place between 5 and 7 pm.

The "Roman project" field school offers five different modules:

module 1 (standard)

Full time stay (two weeks) with all services included

module 2

Three weeks stay with all services included and three days excursions

module 3

Four weeks stay with all services included and three days excursions

module 4

Full time stay (two weeks) without excursions

module 5

One week stay whit six days excursion (full tour of the Bulgaria)

Now you can choose your favourite trip in Bulgaria. If you are applying for Modules 2, 3 or 5 you can use the Bulgarian Archaeological Association's Tours services. Just go to our new web page www.baa-tours.archbg.net and visit our Topics section. For all of these tours we have a relevant programs adapted for our field school participants. Send us a short message and we will include the tour chosen by you in your field school individual progame.

Arrival of participants in Sofia.
After arrival participants will be accommodated in the hotel in the Sofia City center.

Sightseeing tour in Sofia .
After gaining the larger part of the group will be organized sightseeing tour in the Bulgarian capital.

BAA Archaeological Field School

Trip to field school place. Accommodation and welcome activities.
Travel by bus. Accommodations in a hotel near the archaeological site. Welcome activities. Visit to the site and presentation of the work activities.

BAA Archaeological Field School

Excavations and work on the materials found.
The work in the site will include digging, brushing and cleaning in the morning and washing, sorting and drawing the findings in the afternoon.

Field trips.
2-day excursion by bus to the most attractive locations in NW Bulgaria: Regional Historical Museum, Belogradchik Fortress, Magura Cave, "Baba Vida" Fortress, Roman fortress and town Castra Martis.
