FIELD SCHOOL ACCOMMODATION

The cost of the field school covers room and board. Accommodation is provided by the *** Hotel, which offers shared double-rooms with bathrooms, hot and cold running water, television. The hotel is near the town and the sites.

The meals include early morning breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hotel. The food will be traditional Bulgarian. Any special needs concerning food will be taken into consideration in case they have been preliminary declared.

Facilities: the place offers all facilities required for your normal stay in Bulgaria: post office + many street phone boxes, banks, cash machines, cafes, restaurants, Internet cafes, bars, discos, swimming pool and many other sport facilities.

Your clothes should be comfortable and practical, suitable for physical and sport activities (take also swimming suits). You have to be prepared for hot and sunny weather (over 35 C), although any exception with cold and rainy summer is also possible (in 2005 there were more rainy days than ordinary).

Personal Equipment
The project area can be hot and dry and full of plants that grab at skin and clothing. At other times, it can be windy and cold or stormy. Clothes and bedding suitable to a wide range of conditions are recommended. Download a list of suggested items here

Field School Tool Kit
The project will supply all basic equipment needs for the duration of your time on site. If you want to purchase your own digging 'kit' in advance you need to bring the following:
